Planning a Wedding?

Well, you’ve come to the right place.  There’s nothing more romantic than a wedding on the beach.  Formal or informal, our beautiful white sand and the Gulf of Mexico will enchant you. Here’s some information that may help in your planning efforts:

 FLORIDA MARRIAGE LAWS

Both individuals must apply in person together with a picture ID (driver’s license or state ID) and know their Social Security Number.  If you do not have an SSN, you need to bring your passport. No blood tests are necessary.

Legal age for marriage is 18.  If you are under 18, you must bring a certified copy of your birth certificate and a parent or legal guardian with proof of identification.

For out-of state residents, there is no waiting period.  If you are a Florida resident, the couple must either observe a 3-day waiting period or attend one of the state-certified marriage preparation courses.  The course will also allow you a $32.50 discount on the marriage license cost.

You can be married by a minister, notary, or boat captain, who is a Notary or a licensed Minister.

Cost of the marriage license is $93.50 .  License is good for 60 days anywhere in the State of Florida.

 For Weddings on the Public Beach...

You can set up a 10x10 canopy and folding chairs immediately before the service anywhere on the sand  beach. In addition there are five beautiful locations that you can cordon off for your ceremony and the reception too.

To reserve an area you must contact the City Parks and Recreation Department ( 727-562-4800) a minimum of 30 days before your event. There is a fee charged by the City for a reserved area.   No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the beach.

The Beach Recreation Center  has a social hall and a nicely landscaped area with a large deck facing Mandalay Bay. It is available for rental through the City Parks & Recreation Dept. at 727-562-4800.
 
 An alternative location is Sand Key Park. This is a county facility with beautiful landscaping, grassy picnic shelter areas and a wide white sand beach. Arrangements must be made through the Park Ranger
